We will meet at 08h00 at your hotel for a 2-hour drive to Otavalo. This small town north of Quito is mainly known for its indigenous culture and the world-famous market. The handicraft market of Otavalo is the largest you will find in Latin America!

Surrounded by lakes, rivers, mountains, and volcanoes, it is a small paradise that offers so much more than a simple stop-and-shop tour. On our way to Otavalo, we will stop at Guayllabamba. This small town is an agricultural center where we will taste the chirimoya, a typical fruit of this region and at a viewpoint will have a stop to take in the amazing landscapes surrounding this town: the valleys and the snow-capped mountains. 

Our next stop is Lago de San Pablo viewpoint. The biggest lake in the north of Ecuador on the foot of the volcano Imbabura before arriving in Otavalo. Our first stop in Otavalo will be Plaza de los Ponchos, this is where the handicraft market takes place every day. Especially when you would like to buy some souvenirs, this is your chance! From there we continue to Peguche, a small village known for its musicians, where we will visit the waterfalls. Our tour continues to Cotacachi. This village just a little bit north of Otavalo is the leather capital of Ecuador. Many workshops and shops will be happy to help you choose your new boots, jacket, belt, or anything else that can be made out of leather before heading back to Quito where we will arrive around 5-6 PM.

CANCELLATIONS POLICIES

Scheduled tour bookings are not confirmed until payment is received ( by Credit card, Paypal, or wire transfer bank*).

In any event, Tour Guide Ecuador strongly advises you to take out travel insurance.  It’s well worth the peace of mind.

We always suggest a call, email, or text the day before your tour to ensure all your details are as they should be. It is not obligatory, but it helps.

If confirmed standard departure tour bookings are canceled the following fees apply:

More than 7 days in advance – 10% of the original fee.

3-7 days in advance – 50% of tour cost.

Within 72 hours of commencement – refunds will not be available.

If changes are made more than 6 days before the original booking there is no charge. The rebooked date must be within 2 months.
