Equatorial line + Downtown
We will start this day between 8:30 – 9 AM from your hotel. After meeting you we will drive a scenic road going north to step on the line that runs straight through the Equator: latitude 0 (Equator Line). From there we will continue to the interactive Inty Nan Solar Museum where you will receive a tour about the various cultures living in Ecuador and are invited to participate in several experiments you can only perform while right on the Equator. In the afternoon we will be heading back to the south. On the way, we will stop for a small but typical Ecuadorean lunch before continuing our way to the Panecillo, a hill with the world’s largest aluminium statue and great views of Quito at 3100 mts.
After taking in the views we will continue our way to the historic city centre of Quito, the first UNESCO World Heritage site with its typical colonial cobblestone streets, we stop at “LA RONDA” and walk through the colonial centre with highlights like the Independence Square, Presidential Palace, La Compania Jesuit Golden Church and the Basilica Neogothic Church.
