We booked a full-day tour with Andres Espindola, who was recommended by our hotel concierge and by The New York Times. Andres is very knowledgeable about bird, hummingbird and butterfly species—we saw them all as well as orchids and tropical flowers. We went on a chocolate tour where all ingredients are grown onsite; e.g., cocoa beans, chili peppers, ginger. Andres’ English is excellent and he entertained us on the ride (in a very comfortable SUV with an excellent driver) with cultural insights about Ecuador. I highly recommend Andres!
